Irrigation System Start-Up & Shut-Down
Efficiency, execution and effectiveness is the name of the game. We see irrigation systems as a craft, and our team of professionals take pride in mastering the job with precision and safety.
Start-Up includes the following:
- Visually inspect all valve boxes for rodent nests & debris
- Re-attach any fittings removed in the fall, secure with plumber’s tape if necessary
- Ensure all valves and or drains are open and water source is connected
- Leaf & Branch Collection
- Fertilizing (choice of compost or liquid fertilizer)
- Slow fill of irrigation system
- Close valves and pressurize the system.
- Check all stations individually.
Shutdown includes the following:
- Turn off main irrigation line
- Re-attach any fittings removed in the fall, secure with plumber’s tape if necessary
- Blow out the backflow and entire irrigation system using a commercial compressor with 180 psi
- Ensure that valves in the bottom of the backflow remain opened ¼ turn to allow for expansion and retraction due to fluctuation of temperatures
